Moto Guzzi has officially taken the wraps off the 2016 V9 Bobber and Roamer models at the world launch in Italy. The bikes were unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan last November and are expected here in Australia in the next few months. The V9 is a totally new platform for Moto Guzzi, and is set to capitalise on the current popularity of retro styled machines. Of all the motorcycle manufacturers in the world, Moto Guzzi is one of the most highly qualified in “retro”. The company was founded in 1921 and has seen many changes in trends and technology over the years. Moto Guzzi has created two versions of the bike to appeal to different markets while still keeping most of the running gear identical. Both of the bikes use a new 853cc transverse twin engine that is essentially an upgraded and larger version of the engine from the V7. It generates 41kW, a respectable 62 Nm of torque at just 3,000rpm and as you would expect it is is Euro 4 compliant. The V9 Roamer is an authentic custom cruiser with timeless retro styling and plenty of scope for customisation. The Bobber gets a minimalistic treatment and blacked out components that gives it a more aggressive and modern style. Apart from the styling, the only other differences between the two is the tyres. The classically styled Roamer has a 100/90 front tyre on a 19 inch wheel, and 150/80-16 tyre for the rear. The Bobber has 16 inch wheels front and rear with a 130/90-16 tyre for the front and 150/80-16 on the rear. Both bikes are equipped with advanced two-channel ABS and Moto Guzzi’s advanced two level traction control integrated with the electronic engine management system. Moto Guzzi has built these bikes, like all of its machines, to an exceptional standard with solid high quality materials and fine finishes. Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed.
